Congratulations! Isn't it amazing when we look back, to see just how far we've come from where we were? All of us know how precious that is, and how one day at a time adds up to something we could never have imagined when we began. Thanks you for sharing your sobriety journey with us.

Thank you so much, Nancy. And so, so true: those days, strung together, sure do lead someplace amazing ❤️

That story made me smile, Dana! 🤣 Thank you. And congrats, keep it up! 👍

Congratulations on your 6-year milestone, Dana. I can't remember how long it's been since I drank alcohol because there was no definitive decision to give it up, but I wholeheartedly celebrate the clarity and spaciousness that comes with its absence from my life.

And I love your descriptions of Thai life and culture, which are so resonant with my brief times there 😊

What is nourishing me this week? In all honesty, SLEEP. I am feeling utterly exhausted right now as the hormonal fluctuations do their thing 😏

Dr. Dana Leigh Lyons, DTCM's avatar

Thank you, Vicki. It really is something - the clarity and spaciousness that one change brings.

Sleep! I know all too well the impact hormonal fluctuations can have on it… and how that impacts everything else, body-mind-spirit. Sending you wishes for deep rest and recovery ❤️

Love this post congratulations 💕🙌💕 I had a big social media break, then realised I’d conned myself because I market on instagram and was scrolling gradually mor and more! So currently doing a detox from scrolling (I have to market) coffee chocolate and processed sugar, the chocolate/sugar has always been the thing I self soothe with and this winter for various reasons I was doing that quite a lot. I’m an Ayurvedic coach that meets people where they are rather than force a purist approach but I decided a dopamine detox and rethink would be good learning. Day five and finally not crying or sorrowful, that window was not too long for me and a great reminder of how awful that period can be, and I know it goes on much longer in other contexts. That’s why I really value the work you do. I’m loving warm regular meals, warm drinks, staring at the tree out front and the birds, just be-ing 💕

Thank you, Lucy! I love hearing about your scrolling detox and how you’re leaning into the learning and reminders that come from letting go of certain things for a while. That’s been a big theme for me too this year, after going caffeine free. I feel nourished even just reading about your warm meals, warm drinks, and staring at the tree and birds. Grateful for your presence here and your work in the world ❤️

I love the idea of Thailand and those connections. Small gifts of fruit. Rest and sleep have been nourishing me on these dark wet days. I’m hungry for sunlight. Spring is only a few weeks away. Happy 6 years. I’m 1 year in and it’s up and down. Best wishes Sarah

Thank you, Sarah. From my years in Canada, I so hear you on sunlight. Sending wishes for steadiness and serenity with it all ❤️

~ What’s nourishing your body, mind, spirit? — My body feels good lately as I've been applying MCT oil to my skin. It's really something. Sounds weird, but it's quite noticeably nice. My mind and spirit have been enriched as I started a new podcast called The Arc of The Bard, where I interview fellow fiction writers. I can't believe how blessed I am to be able to learn from such amazing people, and then share it with whomever wants to hear it. Today I interviewed a woman 20 years my senior. Needless to say, that is wisdom. I will put her closer to the head of the queue.

~ What are you hungry for? — More of all the waking up I'm seeing from people who are facing the reality that with all the light being shed on the wickedness, there must be something to the goodness. There are fewer fairytales than they thought. I'm praying for discernment.

~ Have you celebrated a meaningful milestone lately? — How did it feel? I'm in the middle of My third annual Flash Fiction February marathon of 28 stories written and podcasted in 28 days. It's so fun. So I guess Feb 1 was the milestone, then the next one will be when the month ends.

Thanks for the encouraging writing.

That doesn’t sound weird to me at all, Herschel. I frequently use coconut oil on my skin. And your new podcast and the conversations you’re having sound deeply enriching.

More discernment, yes. And what a fun milestone and creative adventure!

Thanks so much for being here and sharing 😊

6 years is incredible, Dana! Congratulations!!! I chuckled to myself when I thought about your question - What is nourishing my body? I'm not so sure my answer is "nourishing" my body, but it's certainly doing something! Ha ha I tried pickleball for the 1st time last week, and then I tried it a 2nd time 2 days ago. My body is sore ALL OVER! I've never been good at sports, so pickleball is a challenge. However, I'm willing to stick with it for a little while longer to see if it becomes a fun activity. Everyone says how "fun" it is... Well, I guess it can be fun after you learn the rules (which are a bit confusing), and then you learn how to hit the ball properly. I've been watching videos, but "doing the thing" is a lot different than "watching the thing." Time will tell:)

Dr. Dana Leigh Lyons, DTCM's avatar

Thank you, Crystal! And I love that so much! Trying something brand new - being willing to go in with a sense of humor and beginner eyes - is so deeply nourishing. ❤️

Congratulations on six years, Dana! I love the way you describe the expanding depths and richness of sobriety. I'll be seven years in June and my life, daily practices, spirituality and relationships are all so different, indirectly and directly due to the lessons sobriety has taught me. It's a wild and precious journey for sure. Thanks for being so generous with yours.

A milestone I am celebrating is five years since adopting my little black rescue cat, Cosmo. Can't believe he's been with me for half a decade already but I still treasure every snuggle and face boop!

Dr. Dana Leigh Lyons, DTCM's avatar

Thank you, Jae! Congrats on your ~seven years… and the wild, precious, magical journey that came with it.

And hooray for five years with Cosmo! These little beings truly are gifts and great teachers. ❤️
